Cecil C. Wallner, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.
Cecil was born December 22, 1921 at Tappen, North Dakota, the son of Fred and Sylvia (Bell) Wallner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Tappen and was educated at Tappen schools. On December 22, 1947, he married Frances ""Lorrayne"" Olson, also from Tappen. At that time, they owned and operated the Silver Inn Hotel and Café in Tappen and later the Conoco service station and café in Tappen. He was also a member of the Monarch Swing band. After moving to Jamestown, ND, he drove the fuel and gas truck for Midwest Motors for 35 years, until his retirement. His wife of 50 years developed Alzheimer disease and died in 2000, with Cecil being her devoted caregiver during her illness.
Cecil was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
Mr. Wallner is survived by a son, Troy (Corlyce) Wallner, Fargo, ND; a daughter, Candace (Robert) Gums, Jamestown; one granddaughter, McKensie Wallner, Fargo; one brother, Irvin (Phyllis) Wallner, Tappen; and one sister, Marcella (John) Santos, San Leandro, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Chaplain David Fisher officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial in the spring: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
