Casimer Wanzek, 83, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Mr. Wanzek was born June 22, 1923 in Windsor, North Dakota, the son of Vincent and Agnes (Kerber) Wanzek. He grew up in the Windsor area and helped on the family farm. On December 13, 1944, Casimer enlisted in the US Army and served in the Phillipines. He was honorably discharged on December 3, 1946 at Center Ft. Louis, Washington. He returned to North Dakota and married Mary Jean Schauer. They lived on a farm north of Cleveland where he grain and dairy farmed and raised their family. In 1969, Casimer began trucking for McDonald Trucking. He later worked for Wright Trucking, Mayer Trucking and Wiest Truck Line. In 1972 Casimer married Lillian Jacobson.
He enjoyed fishing and having coffee at the truck stop with his friends.
Casimer is survived by his wife, Lillian of Jamestown; six children: Kathy Wanzek, Fargo, ND, Victoria Wanzek, St. Louis, MO, Vivian Wanzek and Douglas Wanzek, both of Wahpeton, ND, Glorianna Wanzek, Fargo and Casey Wanzek, Jamestown; two step-children, Gary (Bernice) Riemer and JoAnn (Paul) Schneider, both of Jamestown; five grandchildren; two great-grandchilden and seven brothers and sisters, Virginia Weckamn, Shakopee, MN, Dorothy (Chares) Flynn, Moorhead, MN, Ronald (Lorraine) Wanzek, Eldridge, ND, Leo (Janet) Wanzek, Fargo, ND, Vincent (Dorothy) Wanzek, Riverside, CA, Marvin (Donna) Wanzek and Richard (Alice) Wanzek, both of Windsor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfonzo in infancy and Jerome; one sister, Isabel; a brother-in-law, Germain Weckamn and step-granddaughter, Kimberly Diane.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Susan Lester and Father John McGinnis officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 5:30 PM, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 5:30 PM, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
