Carolyn Hurley, 67, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.
Carolyn Welty was born June 15, 1937 in Sacramento County Hospital, California, the daughter of Kermit and Lucille (Salsbury) Welty. The family moved from California to Sidney, Montana in the year she was born. She was raised in Buford, ND, attended school there and graduated with honors. While in high school she participated in cheerleading and high school plays.
On June 25, 1955 Carolyn married Pat Keeton Hurley and they resided in Trenton, ND for three years. They had two children, Kim Dudley Hurley and Carla Joy Hurley, both born in Williston, ND. The family then moved to Steele, ND where they lived for several years and were in the Apiaries business. In 1962 the family moved to Jamestown where they raised their family and put down their roots until retirement. They moved to Casper, Wyoming where they invested in real estate from 1986 to 2000, then wanting to be near their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, they moved back to Jamestown in 2001.
Carolyn managed the first JC Penney Catalog Department in Jamestown. She worked for the Harty Agency for 10 years and in Casper, WY she was head secretary for the Doctors Company for 14 years.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Pat, of 49 years, one son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Roxanne Hurley, Jamestown and three grandchildren, Jade Wheeler, Nick Hurley and Jake Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carla Hurley and grandson, Tyler Hurley.
Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.
No visitation is scheduled.
Burial: Fort Buford Cemetery, North Dakota (at a later date)
