Caroline Karn, 100, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
Caroline Clara Mack was born July 24, 1910 in rural Pettibone, ND, the daughter of George and Clara (Bartel) Mack. She was raised on the family farm and attended the rural school. On August 10, 1932, she married Orville Karn at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Sykeston, ND. During their married life they farmed in several places in North Dakota and lived in Michigan for a short time. Most of their married life was spent in Kensal, ND where they raised their five children. In 1968, Orville and Caroline retired and moved to Jamestown, ND. Orville died in 1993 and Caroline moved to Ave Maria Village in 2004 where she resided until her death.
Caroline was a member of St. James Basilica and was a lifetime member of the Basilica's Tabernacle Society. She loved music and entertained many of the staff at Ave Maria with her harmonica playing. She enjoyed dancing and gardening.
Survivors include her son, Orville (Lorna) Karn, Bozeman, MT; four daughters: Irene Eckroth, Jamestown, ND; Ella Rettig, Jamestown, ND; Clara Oathoudt, Ypsilanti, MI; Rosa (Bruce) Ingold, Ivins, UT, 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter-in-law; 3 sons-in-law and a grandson.
Funeral - 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday
Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
