Brenda Casavant

July 16, 1953 — June 1, 2014

Brenda Kaye Casavant, 60, of Jamestown, ND, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 1, 2014, after her third courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was a humble, humorous and kind-hearted soul born to Lorne and Libbey Wheeler on July 16, 1953, in Rolla, ND.

Brenda?s family and faith were the core of her being. She married the love of her life Aime Casavant on August 19, 1972, in Thorne, ND. They made their home first in Grand Forks for seven years and then in Jamestown. She was a devoted and loving mother, making her three children the center of her life: Brent (Angie) Casavant of South St. Paul, MN, Jacki Lindell of Jamestown, ND, and Vanessa Casavant of Seattle, WA.

Brenda?s leadership skills became evident at a young age when she became president of the Rolette High School Student Council, was selected to attend Girls State in 1971 and received honors in all her her academic endeavors. She later helped others in succeeding with their occupational work, was one of the earliest members of Victory Lutheran Church and for a while served as president of the Jamestown Women?s Slow-Pitch Softball Association. Her kindness, blended with her can-do attitude, made her a talented and cherished surgical nurse of 32 years at Jamestown (Hospital) Regional Medical Center.

As a planner and a doer, Brenda was always willing to lend her organizational skills in any way she could, from organizing youth and women?s groups at church, to holiday parties for co-workers, to family reunions, to homemade treats for her grand-dogs. Her love of learning and zest for life gave way to many hobbies, including: board games and puzzles, softball, golf, quilting, crafting, cooking and knitting.

Brenda?s contagious laughter will be missed here on Earth, but she is now sharing it in Heaven with her father Lorne and sister Barbara Leubke. In addition to her mother, husband, and children, Brenda is survived by her grandson Houston Lindell, siblings Larry (Sherli) Wheeler, Alan (Mary) Wheeler, Karen (Monte) Kelly, Denice (Rick) Casavant, Debbie Casavant, Kevin (Marilyn) Wheeler and Joel (Judy) Wheeler. She is also survived and missed by more than 60 nieces and nephews, dozens of in-laws and countless friends.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Thursday at Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Victory Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to ?Victory Lutheran Church ? Youth Ministries,? 510 9th Ave SW, Jamestown, ND.

Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
