Bob Goffe was born in Fergus Falls, MN March 22, 1949 to Hiram and Ruth (Marston) Goffe. His family moved to Jamestown, ND. He was always energetic growing up, helping neighbors where he could, sold newspapers on Sunday, worked for a farmer during the summer and at a gas station. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1967. That is where he learned his interest in working on cars. Through the years he restored several cars for friends. That same year he met Carol Clarys from Courtenay, nearly running into her on his Harley Davidson as she crossed the street. On their first date he told her they would be married someday. That fall, he joined the US Navy. His first year he attended Aviation Electrician school in Jacksonville Florida and came home to get married before transferring to NAS Lemoore, CA, where they made their home for the next 25 years. During that time, Bob was deployed on several US Aircraft Carriers, eventually taking him around the world. He also attended Advanced Aviation for instructor training in Jacksonville, FL where their first son Richard was born. After being transferred back to NAS Lemoore his daughter Christina and son James were born. He taught electricians who worked on airplanes that pilots flew. The last nine years in the Navy he was a Command Master Chief in charge of different squadrons, all in NAS Lemoore. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars as a hobby.
Bob retired from the Navy with 26 years, in 1993. They moved back to Courtenay where Carols dads health was failing. Bob worked for a farmer until 2017 taking the winters off to travel back to CA to see their daughter and grandchildren. They enjoyed getting to know their grandchildren and developed a close relationship with them.
