Betty Fenno

Betty Inez Bauder Fenno passed away on September 6, 2026, at Manor St. Joseph at the age of 93.

Born on December 4, 1932, Betty married the love of her life, Jack Fenno, on December 27, 1951. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others.

Betty was a kind and gentle woman whose warmth touched everyone she met, yet beneath that softness was a strong and determined spirit. She was never afraid to stand up for herself when necessary and was fiercely protective of those she loved.

She graduated from Ellendale High School and taught school for several years. After their marriage, Jack and Betty moved to Alcatraz Island, where he was stationed as a lighthouse keeper with the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning to Edgeley, North Dakota, Betty worked alongside Jack on the family farm, caring for their sheep and taking on the many responsibilities of farm life.

Betty also worked at the V-Store and devoted many years of service to Manor St. Joseph as Social Activities Director. She organized arts and crafts for residents, maintained the facility newsletter, and generously assisted wherever she was needed. It was especially fitting that the place she had served so faithfully for many years later became her home.

Although Betty never considered her cooking anything special, family and friends often spoke fondly of her spaghetti, which became one of her trademarks. Whenever someone asked for the recipe, she would smile and reply, “I don't know, a little of this and a little of that.”

She loved to crochet, creating beautiful doilies and angel tree toppers for each of her daughters. She also hand‑embroidered names on Christmas stockings for her children, sons‑in‑law, and grandchildren.

Family members eagerly awaited her holiday boxes of baked goods and the weekly letters she faithfully sent to stay connected with those she loved.

Above all else, Betty treasured her family, her friends, and her faith. Her kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering love will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Fenno, who passed away on August 2, 2010; her parents; several aunts and uncles; her son‑in‑law, Roy Kupfer; her great‑granddaughter, Zoe Nath; her brother, Bill Bauder; her sister‑in‑law, June Bauder; and her brother‑in‑law, Robert Fenno.

She is survived by her daughters: Donna Thurn (Kerry), Linda Kupfer, Sheree Kuehl (Mark), and Patricia Resvick (Keith). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Nathan (Michelle), Jeremy (Jodi), Erin (Ken), Jennifer (Derek), Chris (Priya), Anthony (Kirsten), and Kristen; by eleven great‑grandchildren: Nick, Lucas, Jacksynn, Jaevyn, Amelia, Michael, James, Kaylee, Crosby, Madison, and Wyatt; and her brother‑in‑law, Kent Fenno.

Services: 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley.

Visitation: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10th Williams Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.

Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.
