Beryl Striefel, 79, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND
Beryl Jean Townley was born March 14, 1926 in Sydney, Australia, the daughter of Martin and Johanna (Nelms) Townley. She was raised and attended school in Sydney and then work for a Jewelry Store in Sydney. On October 19, 1944, she married Pius Striefel in Sydney, Australia. They came to the United States, arriving in San Francisco on April 22, 1946. They moved to North Dakota where Pius attended school to become an electrician. From 1952 to 1968, Beryl was the bookkeeper for Pius' electrical contracting business in Rugby, ND and she also owned a taxi service in Rugby. When Pius became the North Dakota State Electrical Inspector in 1968, they moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Schmeise. Pius died on February 25, 1997. Beryl remained in her Jamestown home until June of 2005 when she moved to the home of her son, Glen.
Beryl was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Janice (Jim) Sherbert, Paris, TX; Karen Roberge, Oakes, ND; 2 sons: Gene (Rita) Striefel, New Hope, MN; Glen (Tiane) Striefel, Jamestown, ND; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Norma Emery, Melbourne, Australia and Molly Wisdom, Adelaide, Australia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral - 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Reverend Dennis Ellingson officiating.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Visitation - noon to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.
Interment - Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
