Beatrice Schelling

Beatrice M. Schelling, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, January 2, 2006 in Henderson, Nevada.

Beatrice Schelling was born April 25, 1923 at Sykeston, ND to Frank and Magdalena (Nolz) Laber. At the age of three she lived with her paternal grandparents when her mother died. She returned back to her father and siblings before she started school. She attended St. Elizabeth parochial school and Sykeston High School. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

On January 5, 1942 she married Joseph Hafner and they farmed for many years. She moved to Carrington, ND and was employed at Golden Acres Manor for a number of years. On October 6, 1984 she married Harry Schelling of Mohall, and resided there until his death. She then moved to the Meadows Apartments in Jamestown to be nearer to her family.

She very much liked being around people and enjoyed gardening, her flower beds, playing cards and most of all her talent in knitting and giving classes.

Beatrice is survived by four daughters: Janice Klocke, Henderson, NV; Kathy (Larry) Erickson, Grace City, ND; Jean (Rick) Knowling, Scottsdale, AZ and Donna Bonderud, Grand Forks, ND, three sons: Cletus Hafner, Minneapolis, MN; Dennis (Diane) Hafner, Sykeston, ND and Dean (Sue) Hafner, Jamestown, two stepsons, one stepdaughter, 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown with Father Al Bitz celebrant.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Vigil: 7:00 PM, Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Sykeston, North Dakota.
