Audrey Horsager

Audrey Horsager, 101, of Berlin, ND, passed away November 11, 2025, at St. Catherine’s South, Fargo, ND.

Audrey was born October 28, 1924, to parents Adolf and Mamie (Worrel) Ellingson. She attended country schools and graduated from Berlin High school in 1942. She went to Ellendale and took tests to become a teacher in various country schools in LaMoure county.

Audrey married Blaine Horsager on February 14, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Berlin, ND. Together they began raising their family of six children - Alan, Denis, Beverly, Gary, Kevin, and Karen. While raising the family she would haul fuel to local farmers while Blaine was the Standard bulk fuel agent and was moving buildings for local families and farmers.

Audrey would host Stanley parties for local women to buy the latest and greatest products for cleaning and cooking utensils. She was a great seamstress sewing clothes for her family and friends and crocheted many blankets for her grandchildren.

Audrey loved raising a garden to can vegetables for the winter and share her bounty with her family that didn’t have a garden. Many of her grandchildren still look forward to her dill pickles.

Audrey is survived by her children: Beverly Petska, Camp Verde, AZ, Gary Horsager, Edgeley, ND, Kevin (Sharon) Horsager, Fargo, ND, and Karen Savageau, Tempe, AZ; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 30 step great grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Mamie Ellingson; her husband, Blaine; her sister, Elnere Ellingson Busche; her brothers, Glenn Ellingson and Mervin Ellingson; her sons, Alan and Denis Horsager; her daughters-in-law, Norrine Horsager and Sandi Horsager; and her son-in-law, Rusty Savageau.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley, ND with Pastor Becca Hafner officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service. Interment will be in Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, ND.
