Arvid Brignall

Luzerne Arvid "Butch" Brignall, 78, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home special care unit, under hospice.

Arvid was born August 6, 1935, in Sarles, North Dakota to Howard and Olga (Sand) Brignall. He lived in Hannah, ND till age 6. The family then moved to LaMoure, ND where he attended school. Butch worked for LaMoure County Road Department and City of LaMoure as Chief of Police. He married JoAnn Kupfer. In 1965, Butch moved to Jamestown where he worked for Everets for 34 years. He also worked at M Bar D in Dickinson and most recently for RTS Shearing in Jameston. On November 22, 1974, he married Della Beach in Aberdeen, SD. They moved to Ypsilanti, ND living there for 34 years upon moving back to Jamestown due to failing health. Butch loved the challenge of making things out of metal and building homes. Loved the smell of wood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada. Drove stock cars #4. Butch enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle and most of all, being with his grandchildren. He was a life time member of Abate, St. John's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Della, Jamestown; one son, Ralph "Skip" Brignall, Ypsilanti, ND; three daughters, Robin (Alfonso) Vasquez, Jamestown, ND, Kristi (Jim) Balster, Jamestown, ND, Becky Ganser, Grand Forks, ND; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Matt) Matteson, Galax, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and one sister.
