GlinzArvel H. Glinz, 89, Jamestown, ND, died
Sunday, August 29, 2010 at his home in Jamestown
with his family by his side.Arvel Harley Glinz was
born March 13, 1921, on the family farm in Bottineau
County near Russell, ND,
the son of James and Elizabeth (Zurcher) Glinz.
He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Russell,
ND, graduating from Russell High School
in 1940. After graduating, he farmed
with his father and brothers until October 23, 1942, when he was inducted into
the United States Army Air Force. On
July 19, 1943, he was honorably discharged and returned home to continue
farming. Arvel married Marjorie Goheen
in Minot, ND
on October 17, 1944. Arvel continued to
farm in the Russell, ND area until 1960, when they purchased a farm in the Jamestown, ND
area. In 1970, he began Glinz Real
Estate which he operated for a number of years.
He later sold the real estate business, but continued selling real
estate before retiring in April of 2008 from Century 21 Heritage Real Estate. During his 39 years in real estate, Arvel was
instrumental in developing the land south of the Stutsman County Fair Grounds,
the Skyline area and the Gussner
School District. He suffered from Parkinson's disease for many
years and was under the care of Jamestown Hospital Hospice.Arvel was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church,
the American Legion and the Elks of Jamestown.
He served for many years on the Board of Directors for the North Dakota
Wheat Producers. He enjoyed traveling
and was interested in politics.Arvel was a loving
husband, father and grandfather whose great-grandchildren made his life
complete.Arvel is survived by his
wife, Marjorie, Jamestown, ND; one son, David (Barbara) Glinz, Jamestown, ND;
three daughters: Kathryn (Bryan) Sundsbak, Rapid City, SD; Jane (John) Esper,
Clermont, FL; Nancy (Lyle) Williams, Jamestown, ND; one daughter-in-law,
Cecelia Glinz, Jamestown, ND; 9 grandchildren: Shaun (Julene) Glinz; Anne (Don)
Kainz; Aron Williams; Amy (Jason) Waliser; Alan (Chantelle) Williams, all
Jamestown; Sasha (Tony) Minihan, England; Marvel (Joel) Vander Kooi, Thailand; Chad
Wiese, Denver, CO; Jamie (Rhianna) Sundsbak, Rochester, MN; 13
great-grandchildren: Dane and Kyra Kainz; Kyler, Connor and Anish Glinz;
Lillian Sundsbak; Hunter Klipfel; Austin and Peyton Waliser; Kirsten and
Hezekiah Vander Kooi and Ryan and Leo Williams; a brother, Norman (Twilla) Glinz, Bottineau,
ND; Sisters-in-law: Elaine Glinz, Bottineau, ND; Ruth Glinz, Maxbass, ND; Ione
Glinz, Westhope, ND; brothers-in-law: Sherman (Marlys) Welstad, Minot, ND; Bill
(Marilyn) Goheen, Minot, ND; Sisters-in-law; Sue (Wes) Goheen Buechler,
Carrington, ND and Penny (Mike) Goheen Carson, Craig, AK and many wonderful
nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his son, Bruce; grandchildren: Cresta Glinz and
Matthew Wiese; his parents, James and Elizabeth Glinz; a sister, Violet Welstad,
Upham, ND; brothers: Lawrence, Mojave, CA; Wilmar, Maxbass, ND; Willis,
Newburg, ND; Lyle, Westhope, ND; mother and father-in-law, Ivan and Lillian
Goheen, Minot, ND; brothers-in-law, Jerry Goheen, Carrington, ND; Jim Goheen,
The Dells, OR; Kareen Goheen, Bolger, Sebastopol, CA and many dear friends.Funeral Service
