Arthur Bollinger

Arthur Bollinger, 94, of Edgeley ND Passed away peacefully on Monday April 22, 2013 surrounded by his family at Manor St Joseph in Edgeley.

Art was born April 9th 1919, in Potsdam Township, Dickey County near Merricourt ND, Son of Louis & Marie (Biederstedt) Bollinger. Art attended country school and completed the 8th grade. He was a farm laborer until 1939 when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He took welding and bookkeeping classes at the State normal & Industrial College in Ellendale. He met Leona Welk in the fall of 1944 and they were married February 23rd, 1945, two sons came from their union, Gene & Allen. Shortly after they were married, he was drafted and served with the US Navy Sea Bees in the 56th naval construction battalion at Pearl Harbor & Guam during WWII. After the war he & Leona moved back to the family farm south of Edgeley where they made a living running a diversified farm. They moved into Edgeley in 1991 & he retired in 1992. Art & Leona joined the manor family in December 2011. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Edgeley, the VFW, American Legion, CCC chapter 106, and served as Potsdam Township treasurer for 37 years.

Arthur is survived by his son; Allen (Brenda) Bollinger of Edgeley, daughter-in-law Michelle Bollinger of Edgeley, seven grandchildren & five great grandchildren. Nick (Heidi) Bollinger & their children Cashton & Jack of Jamestown ND, Pat (Maria) Bollinger & their child Rhylen of Fergus Falls MN, Jake (Jill) Bollinger of Fargo ND, Kali (Tanner) Kiecker & their children Jozie & Emmy of Edgeley ND, Claire Bollinger of Omaha NE, Eric Bollinger of Edgeley ND, & Emily (Steve) Klym of Belfield ND. Also his special 4 legged friend Max.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, Leona Bollinger, his Son, Gene Bollinger, his Brother, Carl Bollinger, & his sisters, Ida Conley, Ruth Walker, & Mae Maier.

He was the last of his family.


Funeral Service:
11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2013 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Edgeley.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.

Interment: 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013 at the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
