Arlan Ammon

February 23, 1935 — October 6, 2014

Arlan Ammon, age 79, passed away on the morning of October 6th, 2014, at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Arlan Ammon was born on February 23, 1935 to Albert and Lenora (Kohlman) Ammon.

Arlan attended and graduated from school in Martin, ND. He was married to Geraldine Eckart in 1952 and they had two children, Sandy and Lane. They lived for a short time in Anaconda, MT where he worked at the Anaconda Smelter.

Arlan began working for Kost Trucking/NRF Trucking in 1958. Arlan married Janice Piatz on January 7th of 1961 and they made their home in Fargo, ND. Their daughter Lori Estelle was born in 1964. The family then moved to Ellendale, ND where Arlan continued to work for Kost Trucking. Their son Lorin Arlan was born in 1968. In 1983, Arlan?s work then took them to Carrington, ND where he continued working for Kost Trucking for close to 40 years. Most of his career was spent hauling propane for Cenex.

After retiring from trucking in approximately 2002, Arlan and Janice bought an RV and began heading south to Arizona during the fall and winter months. They returned to LaMesa Verde RV Park in Bouse, Arizona each winter. They made many new friends and still keep in contact with some of them now. The summers were spent in Carrington and Arlan continued to truck part-time. He received an award for his safe driving recognizing the fact that he was accident-free during his long career.

Arlan enjoyed playing pinochle and was part of a lively Friday night card crew in Bouse, AZ. He enjoyed fishing even if nothing was biting; trips to the casino even if the bells weren?t ringing; and ?going for a drive? around town which usually ended with a DQ blizzard. He also enjoyed his phone conversations with his brother Arlo?there seemed to be no time limit to these calls. Arlan was always very proud of the semi-trucks that he drove and took extremely good care of them.

In 2009, Arlan and Janice sold the RV and moved into an apartment in Jamestown, ND. Then in 2010, due to health issues, Arlan entered Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND where he resided until his death.

Arlan was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lenora Ammon, three brothers, Eugene, Allen and Arlo; one daughter, Lori Ammon Schmidt; and one son, Lane Ammon.

Arlan is survived by his wife, Janice Ammon; one son, Lorin (Trina) Ammon; one grandson, Luke Ammon all of Jamestown, ND; and one daughter, Sandy Frantzick of Harvey, ND.
