Amanda Gomke

Amanda Gomke, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Palliative Care Unit, Sanford Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. Amanda Mueller was born June 1, 1926 in Rosebud, North Dakota to Rudolph and Martha (Hoesel) Mueller. She attended rural country school in Midway Township and graduated from Eldridge High School. Amanda attended Valley City State College for two years. She taught school in the Cleveland area for two years. In 1946, Amanda married Rueben Trautman. They lived north of Cleveland until Rueben's passing in the early 1950's. She then moved to Jamestown where she worked at Moline Café and City Laundry. Amanda married Edward Gomke in 1952 in Jamestown. Amanda was employed with JC Penny for 39 years until she retired. Edward passed away in 2008. Amanda lived in Jamestown until 2012 when she moved to Fargo. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing bingo and going to casinos. Amanda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by three daughters, Linda (David) Wagenmann, Moorhead, MN, Brenda Norquist, Eagle, NE, Stephanie (Marcia) Wood, West Palm Beach, FL; one son, Douglas (Sue) Gomke, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Vistoria Andersen, Jamestown, ND; one brother, Walter Mueller, Freemont, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers, one sister and one daughter, Carol.

Funeral service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Kristi Weber, officiating.

Visitation: one hour before the funeral at the church.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens.
