Alvin Sieler

Alvin Sieler, 89, of Jamestown, ND, passed away at his home Sunday morning, December 6, 2015.

Alvin was born on November 26, 1926, in Sutley Township, near Mound City, South Dakota, the son of Henry and Christina (Schaeffer) Sieler. He attended school in Mound City and then enlisted in the US Army. Alvin served during WWII in Hawaii and was honorably discharged. He returned to South Dakota and married Irene Alice Landis on May 5, 1950, and to this union brought five children. He worked in Selby, then Mobridge, SD before becoming employed at Kelly’s/Mardian’s Salvage yard. Alvin owned and operated Al’s Hide & Fur in Mobridge, SD where he enjoyed buying, trading, selling. He moved to Jamestown in 1971 and married Sally Issak on April 1, 1972. He worked for Country Boy Dairy, and then West End Hide & Fur. Alvin also drove star mail route for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, auto racing in his youth, driving motorcycles, and flying airplanes.

Alvin is survived by his significant other of 34 years, Elaine Englin; daughter, Carol (Bill) Vandenburg; son, Duane (Okcha) Sieler; daughter, Sheila Roettele; daughter, Becky (Kevin “Speed”) Dallmann; son, Ricky Jay Sieler; and daughter, Carol (Tom) Randall; 12 grandchildren; and14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; son-in-law, Doug Roettele; and all brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service : 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Suzanne Orlopp officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Family will receive guests from 4:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
