Alice Schnell, 76, Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away October 24, 2015, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Alice was born September 29, 1939, at Carrington, ND the daughter of John and Phillipina Weisenburger.
She grew up on the family farm south of Brantford, ND where she attended grade school and later to New Rockford High School. Alice worked many years as cook and waitress in New Rockford area until moving to Jamestown in 1966, where she continued her work. Alice married Allen Schnell in 1978. He passed away June 2, 2008. She retired in 2011.
Alice had a great talent for baking and cooking. Her specialty was German food. No one was late to diner when Alice was cooking. She enjoyed life, she enjoyed going to her brother Gene's place on Devils Lake fishing and working in the garden. Alice also loved her trips to Idaho several times a year to stay with her son. They would visit Yellowstone Park and she would make jelly from his fruit trees. Alice had a second family in Idaho, meeting lots of friends over the years.
Alice had many good friends and relatives in the area. She enjoyed spending time with them taking drives, going to lunch, playing dice, cards and of course, playing bingo. She also enjoyed visits with her sons Jeff and Jerry and their families, uncle Ted, neices, Alice and Charlotte, friends, Bea, Jeanney, Bev and many others. Her smile could make anyone's day a good one. God bless Alice while she rounds up her family in Heaven.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Theresa) Scheer, Jamestown, ND; Greg Scheer, Idaho Falls, Idaho; four step-children, Jerry (Sue), Mandan, Kathy, Minneapolis, MN, Bonnie, California and Darla, Bozeman, MT; two granddaughters, Lisa and Jessica; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mabel; five brothers, Eugene, Melvin, Ted, Donald and Andrew. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, four sisters, Bertha, Lorentina, Doris, Florence, three brothers, Herbert, Elmer and Ervin.
Memorial Service: 1:30, Thursday, October 29 at United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Elmo Herman, officiating.
