Alice Johansen, 80, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, ND.

Alice Marie Johansen was born July 31, 1930 in Carrington, ND, the daughter of Peter and Sofie (Jensen) Johansen. She was raised on the family farm west of Pingree, ND, attended the rural school and graduated from Pingree High School in 1948. She moved to Jamestown, ND, where she was employed by J.C. Penney's for several years. She then served as Administrative Secretary for Stutsman County Extension Service for 33 years. Alice worked several years, prior to her retirement in 1991 as a Parish Worker and Director of Education for St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

Alice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Priscilla Altar Guild. She served as a Hospice Volunteer and was very active in Stonecroft Ministries where she served as a Friendship Bible Coffee Guide and held various positions on the Executive Committee of the local Christian's Women's Club. She served on the Youth for Christ Board for 11 years and was a charter member of the Jamestown Area Grief Support Team. Alice worked in Christian Education in various capacities and taught Sunday school for over 40 years, influencing numerous lives for Christ. She enjoyed 2 trips to the Holy Land along with other travels throughout the USA and Canada. She has been a resident of Hi-Acres Manor for a year, where she made a spiritual impact on residents and staff.

Survivors include 10 nieces and nephews: Marilyn (Harold) Srozinski, Jamestown, ND; James (Pat) Johansen, Cherokee, IA; J. Kipling (Anne) Johansen, Brooklyn Park, MN; Vernon Peterson, CA; Darrell (Patricia) Peterson, CA; Bob (Doreen) Peterson, MN; Bob Johansen, MO; Donna Hoyer, MO; Diane Christiansen, AZ and Dennis (Lorna) Peterson, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eleanora Peterson; 2 brothers: Floyd and Clifford and 3 sisters and a brother who died in infancy.

Funeral - 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND

Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Interment - Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, ND
