Alan Duane Wibstad, 77, of Montpelier, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, at the Ashley Manor Assisted Living Facility in Boise, Idaho.

Alan was born on May 19th, 1948, in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Sidney and Lorraine (Johnson) Wibstad. He was raised on the family farm near Ypsilanti, North Dakota, where he attended elementary school in Ypsilanti and later graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966. During his school years, Alan enjoyed playing basketball and working on the farm. He went on to join the National Guard as well as study agriculture at North Dakota State University.

Alan was previously married to Yvonne (Schildberger) Wibstad, with whom he had two daughters, Robin (Wibstad) Dunwoody and Tina Wibstad. In 1989, he married Elizabeth “Betty” (Zimney) Wibstad, and together they shared a son, Tyler Wibstad, and his step-daughter, Amy (Snyder) Ruff. The couple lived in Jamestown before settling on their farm near Montpelier, where they spent almost thirty years raising peacocks and farming the land. In addition to his passion for farming, Alan founded and ran his own construction company, Wibstad Construction, which he operated for many years. He also managed his parents’ farm near Ypsilanti.

Alan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and spending time on the farm. He also had a passion for playing softball, enjoyed playing cards with friends, and was a frequent attendee of local auctions. His love for life and his deep connection to the land were evident in all that he did. He also loved taking drives in his pickup and sharing stories with his many friends he met along the way. Alan was well known in his community and appreciated the many connections he had.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Tina Wibstad of Eugene, Oregon; his son, Tyler (Janelle) Wibstad of Meridian, Idaho; his stepdaughter, Amy (Brett) Ruff of Bismarck, North Dakota; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Audrey Heupel of Buckey, Arizona; his brother, Terry (Rosalie) Wibstad of Jamestown, North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wibstad; his parents, Sidney and Lorraine Wibstad; and his daughter, Robin Dunwoody.
