Agnes Wegner, 87, of Jamestown, ND, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Agnes I. Jawaski was born March 11, 1930 the daughter of Alex and Olga (Koorenny) Jawaski, on a farm in Wildrose Township, Burleigh County. She moved with her family to a farm near Adrian, ND where she received her education, graduating from Dickey High School in 1948. Agnes taught school for one year at Cusator School #1 where she met Melvin Wegner. They married June 11, 1949 and made their home in Cusator Township. They raised many farm animals and owned a large chicken/egg operation, along with running a Grade A Dairy Farm and raising small grains. Agnes was active in 4-H, gardening and canning, baking bread and sewing. She was an active member of St. Mathias Church and Altar Society. Later, she was a member of St. James Basilica and the Altar Society. Agnes was also a member of the Stutsman County Dairy Women Association and Past President of PTO. Agnes was a Tupperware dealer for 50 years and caretaker for her triplet sisters for 30 years.
She and Melvin retired and moved to Jamestown in 1990 where their home has been since. Melvin died on March 6, 2016.
Agnes is survived by eight children, Thora (Dale) Emerson, Bismarck, ND, Christine (Floyd) Neys, Pingree, ND, Donald (Marla Montgomery) Wegner, Jamestown, John (Gail Shockley) Wegner, Cleveland, ND, Maxine (Randy) Roberg, Kathryn, ND, Vernon (Nancy Thompson) Wegner, Jamestown, ND, Daniel (Shannon Scheidecker) Wegner, Frazee, MN, and Jerome (Jeanette Job) Wegner, Jamestown; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Berube, Esther Ketterling, Marcella Jawaski, and Mae Jawaski; brothers, Ray (Shirley) Jawaski, Fred Jawaski; sister-in-law, Rita Jawaski; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Melvin Wegner; four sisters; one brother; four brothers-in-law; two nephews; and one niece.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2017 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2017 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Vigil: 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2017 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
