Marlowe A. Miller, 60, Jamestown, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home supported by his wife and children after a long, hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Marlowe, son of Marie and Rodger Loose and Arthur Miller, was born January 3, 1954 in Gackle, ND. He grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1972. Marlowe married the love of ?that night?, Michelle (Shelly Bruce). They were married, March 7, 1975. They were loving partners and parents, sharing work, family, friends and battles. They built and shared their lives in Jamestown (and beyond whenever possible). He was a builder, mechanic, landscaper, fixer, and hero without a cape. He drove semi for many years for Charlie Davis and others. He worked for the County Road Department and most recently retired from the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
Marlowe was an inventor, worker, hunter, giver, teacher, craftsman, tinkerer that rivaled MacGuyver and story teller, but not exclusively, and he enjoyed bowling. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and husband who never failed to leave a path of smiles and laughter wherever he went. Marlowe loved nothing more than helping a friend, loved one, or complete stranger near or far with a project, including helping his children improve their homes. He cherished his time outdoors. This included hunting, fishing, taking cruises with his family and resurrecting his 47 Willy's Jeep. The joy he found in these activities was trumped only by teaching them to strangers, friends, his children, grandchildren and wife (whether they wanted to learn or not!). Marlowe loved to share his knowledge and experience with others, and never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Marlowe is survived and revered by his wife Michelle Miller, Jamestown; daughter Shauna Vistad (Joseph), Fargo; son Dustin Miller, Kindred; grandchildren Brandi Vistad, Alexis Pederson, and Braden Miller, Fargo; mother Marie Loose, Jamestown; sisters Bonnie Deuitch (Bob), Mesa, AZ; Janet Thomas (Jim), Mesa, AZ; Linda Perry (Charles), Tacoma, WA; Vicky Hokanson (John), Roseburg, OR; Karla Bachmeier (Donnie), Jamestown; brothers Doug Miller (Tina) Glendale, AZ; Kevin Miller (Nancy), Jamestown; Randy Miller (Crystel), Jamestown; Scott Miller, Buchanan; Rich Miller (Wanda), Phoenix, AZ; dog Pandora; grand dogs Sugar and Zeus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Rodger Loose, Arthur Miller and his beloved pomeranian Sierra.
