Kayla Renee Hoff, 28, passed away March 29, 2014 at MD Anderson Cancer Medical Center, Houston, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Kayla was born June 7, 1985 at Chandler Arizona to Mark and Lori (Maw) Metz and Alton Hoff. She was a member of Montpelier Lutheran Church and graduated from Montpelier High School in 2005. She enlisted and proudly served in the US Army being stationed in Iraq and Korea. While in training she took it upon herself to carry a fellow soldier so he could make it across the finish line. Kayla enjoyed life and always with a positive attitude and determination to encourage and care for others while in pain herself. She was on experimental chemo medications and her thoughts were on other cancer patients and how it may benefit them. She had been stationed at Fort Sam Army Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Kayla is survived by her parents; sisters, Ann Lilly, Kimberly Hoff and brother, Kevin (Nicole) Hoff; niece, Savannah Lilly; nephew, Wyatt Hoff; grandparents, Quincy and Caroline Maw; aunts and uncles; friends; and her military "sisters and brothers."
She was preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents, Adam Hoff and Betty Schauer.
