Irene Demaray

Irene Demaray, 77, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.

Irene Smith was born December 2, 1931 in Homer township, Stutsman County, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Curtis) Smith. She grew up and attended Jamestown Public School. Irene married Don Demaray in 1948. She worked at Abbott Laboratories in Waukegan, IL. After she retired, they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, and then in 1998 they moved to Jamestown. Her husband, Don, died in 2002.

Irene is survived by a brother, Robert (Barbara) Smith, Apache Junction, AZ; one sister, Frances (Leonard) Rude, Jamestown; one grandson; one granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Lois and John Althof, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son; two sisters and one brother.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2009 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown, with Pastor Susan Lester officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.
