Arlene Inez Sukut, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota, was called to Heaven on August 11, 2010.
Arlene Inez Dwelle was born January 18, 1929 in Chaseley, North Dakota , the daughter of Rolland and Hulda (Hoefs) Dwelle. Arlene went to elementary school in Chaseley, until the family moved to Jamestown. She graduated from Jamestown High School and attended Interstate Business College. Arlene worked at the Palace Café in Jamestown, and later purchased the Park Plaza Café, which she operated for 17 years. Afer selling the café and refusing to retire, she worked as a receptionist at the White Drug offices, a cook at Gussner School and most recently a hostess at Applebees, where she was often referred to as \""Grandma Apple.\"" She married Howard Sukut on June 10, 1966.
Arlene was very active and giving to the church and to community organizations. She was President of Mrs. JC's and did volunteeer work for Easter Seals. In her church she taught Sunday School, worked with the youth, held many different offices, was a member of Sojourners Circle, served as a conference trustee, and was a delegate to annual conference. She was also active in Church Women United, serving as treasurer, and was an auxiliary member of Gideons International, serving as secretary.
Arlene touched many lives in her short time on this Earth. Everyone she met was very important to her and held a special place in her heart. Arlene will be greatly missed.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Howard, Jamestown; two daughters, Georgette Peterson, South St. Paul, MN and Nichola (Tom) Kjelland, Valley City, ND; nine grandchildren, Cymmone Carson, Makana Peterson, Mariah Monilaws, Natalie Monilaws, Mari Ferguson, Felicia Labrenz, LC, Ben and Katelyn Kjelland; and four great-grandchildren, Abbie, Joey and Rylee Ferguson, and Izabella Carson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Kathryn Dwelle and LaVonne Deutscher.
