Rudolph Mittleider

     Funeral services for Rudolph Mittleider, 98, of Tappen, North Dakota will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Evangelical Church in Crystal Springs, North Dakota.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be held at Fisher Cemetery in Tappen, North Dakota after the service.

     Rudolph passed away peacefully with family near on Wednesday, February 21st at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, North Dakota.

     Rudolph Mittleider was born on May 30th, 1925.  He grew up on his parent’s farm south of Tappen, North Dakota.  He was one of 12 children born to his parents Philip Sr., and Barbara Mittleider.

     On October 9th, 1949, he married the love of his life, Minnie Gilbertson (daughter of Andrew & Betsy Gilbertson), of Crystal Springs, North Dakota.  They were married for over 65 years before Minnie’s passing in 2015.  They had two sons, Rodney & Ronald.

     In 1951 they bought the farm south of Crystal Springs, North Dakota where they both resided.  Rudolph was very involved and enjoyed living on the farm and he also continued his excavating business.  He was a great handyman and was not afraid to tackle a project.  He was known by many people around the community for always willing to lend a helping hand to help neighbors or people in the community out.  He was very generous and had a kind heart.  He enjoyed having family near and continued to live on the farm until his passing.

     Rudolph acquired a love for music at a young age and learned to play the accordion all by ear.  Rudolph and Minnie would attend barn dances in their younger years and Rudy would play the accordion to Waltzes and Polkas.  He became well known for his love of accordion music and was asked to play at different venues throughout the community. 

     He is survived by his brother Israel; sons Ronald (Candus) Mittleider, Rodney Mittleider; five grandchildren, Troy (Crystal) Mittleider, Travis Mittleider, Robin (Brooke) Grotte, Thomas (Sheena) Mittleider, Brianna Mittleider and 16 great grandchildren. 

     His presence will be missed dearly by family, friends, and all who knew him.
