Dee Dalke Obituary

Dee Dalke, 81, passed away at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, AZ on April 12, 2024.  Dee was born April 10, 1943 to Tom and Violet (Herman) DeWitt in Worland, WY.  She attended school there and graduated from Worland High School, then became a telephone operator.  In 1963, she met Arv Dalke, the man of her dreams, and asked him to marry her.  They moved to Sundance, WY and lived throughout the state where Arv worked for a construction company.  In 1965, they had their first son and in 1967 their second son was born.  In 1975, Dee and Arv started their own construction company and moved to Jamestown, ND in 1976 where their home has been since.

Dee was a home mom until the boys went to college.  Arv and Dee were involved in the boys’ sports activities, driving them, friends, and cheerleaders.  Dee went to work as a bookkeeper for Arneson Plumbing, and then worked at Newman Signs.  She retired in 2005, and then she and Arv traveled the country.

Dee loved her puppies and dogs, but after her last little sheltie, Tazer, passed away there were no more as travel and vacations took precedent.  In the spring of 2021, upon their arrival back from the South, Arv took Dee on a ride where 4 Pomeranians where born on their anniversary, March 28th.  She was surprised and chose one to bring home 6 weeks later and Arv picked the perfect name, Kodi.  It was her pride and joy, giving it hugs and kisses each day.

They took bus tours across America, including Alaska, cruises down the Panama Canal, and trips to many countries, including Spain and the Canary Islands.  In 2012, they bought a home in Yuma, AZ and spent their winters from October to April there.  In 2018, Dee had a stroke but was determined to work through the difficulties.  She loved her back yard, especially red roses.  Dee would receive many red roses in her lifetime on birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.  She was the happiest girl in the USA.  She had another stroke in January and was flown to Phoenix.  Dee returned to Yuma to live in an assisted living facility until being transferred to the hospital.

She is survived by her husband Arv; two brothers-in-law, Loren (Joni) Dalke and Lonnie Kendel; two sisters-in-law, Luann (Chuck) Pluhar and Ardella (Dave) Berzel along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Tom (Violet) Herman DeWitt, two sons Robert Lee Dalke, Ronald Lynn Dalke, sister Cindy (DeWitt) Kindel, brother Tomas DeWitt, Jr., father-in-law Ted Dalke and mother-in-law Mary Dalke, Miles City, MT.
