Aniken Hartman Obituary

Aniken Charles David Hartman entered the world on June 12, 2020, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, to proud parents, Julia (Stroh) and Troy Hartman.  He was born at 22 weeks 2 days gestation, weighing in at 12.7 ounces.  Aniken was baptized into God’s family on June 22, 2020.  Because of his early arrival, his medical team and family had an overwhelming task ahead of them.  From the beginning, Aniken was a fighter!  After 294 days, he was released from the hospital on April 1, 2021.  Throughout his life, Aniken obtained 451 Bravery Beads that were given each time he had a blood transfusion, medical procedure, blood draw, or test done.

Despite his abundant medical needs, Aniken lived a beautiful life.  His love of 4-wheeler rides was unmatched.  He would use sign language to tell you “more” and take your hand to lead you back to the 4-wheeler.  What a joy it was to see Aniken visiting parks, giggling as he rode the swings and slides!  Aniken’s actions were always ready when he heard his favorite songs: “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and “The Wheels on the Bus”.  His toys of choice were his light-up trucks and tractors and the new toy Dyson vacuum he got for Christmas.  He could often be found using the real vacuum.  How much help he could have been if he wasn’t afraid of it being turned on!

Aniken’s demeanor was vibrant to say the least, and his smile would light up every room.  Through his cheerful and magnetic disposition, Aniken touched people’s lives in ways he never knew!  He was mommy’s precious boy and daddy’s best buddy.  He was his grandparents’ greatest delight!

Aniken was the recipient of extraordinary medical care throughout his life.  It is impossible to list everyone by name.  His family is forever grateful to every person who helped care for him.  They will never forget the kindness and support.

Aniken’s family made countless sacrifices to give him a full and rich life.  What most people require 80 or 90 years to fulfill, Aniken achieved in just 3 ½ years.  Aniken’s life was a testament of God’s goodness and grace.

On January 13, 2024, God marked Aniken’s mission complete and called him to heaven for eternity.

Left with a hole in their lives but joy for heaven are Aniken’s parents, Julia Hartman (fiancé, Levi Nelson), Fargo, ND, and Troy Hartman, Prescott, AZ; maternal grandparents, Dorene and David Stroh, Jamestown, ND; paternal grandparents, Pat and Bill Hoffman, Prescott, AZ; future maternal grandparents, Forrest Nelson, Roseau, MN, Sue and Dave Sorvig, Williams, MN; aunts and uncles, Justin Stroh (Tiffany Bell), Jamestown, ND, and Trevor (Shanndale) Hartman, Litchville, ND; future aunts and uncles, Amanda (Matt) Kvien, Roseau, MN, Shena (Devyn) Brandt, Roseau, MN, and Ciscely (Matt) Harrison, Warroad, MN; numerous great-aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Aniken was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chuck Hartman; maternal great-grandparents, MaryLou and Lloyd Seckerson and Elizabeth and Joseph Stroh; paternal great-grandparents, Lucille and Curtis Flach and Mavis and Vernon Hartman.
